Dov Charney has personally spoken out for the first time since being fired from American Apparel last week. (His attorney already issued a statement over the weekend.) In an interview with the Financial Times, Charney says, “I believe the allegations made against me in my termination letter to be entirely false. I think it’s highly unusual that a board — any board — would indulge in such a hateful PR campaign against its founder.” According to the piece, Charney has filed with the SEC to protest the decision, and is seeking $23–25 million in severance pay. He ends on an, er, optimistic, note. “I think I will be back in my office before long. I will make this company happen with me still at the helm.” What’s that saying about a river in Egypt?
