Best Bet: The Face Cream That Makes You Look Less Tired

With summer coming, my skin doesn’t normally require as much moisturizing goop as it does during the winter. But last week, in the corners of my beauty cabinet at home, I found a tiny bottle of Tammy Fender Intensive Repair Balm that I bought after reading about it in a winter edition of Goop. I tried it. With the consistency of Elmer’s Glue, this was not the delightful, fluffy, melt-into-your-skin texture I’d come to expect from luxurious face cream. But despite the apparent presence of chamomile, helichrysum (a species of sunflower), marshmallow, and shea butter, it smells like, well, nothing. Because of its texture, I had to consciously couple/spackle/massage the cream onto my face all while thinking, I guess I’ll trust you, Gwyneth (she did introduce me to kale). And since trying it this entire week, I’ve found my skin softer and my pores less visible, and I just generally wake up looking less tired. It turns out my skin does need Goop goop after all.
