After four years with Theory, Olivier Theyskens is parting ways with the brand, per WWD. The Belgian designer joined in 2010, where he created the capsule collection Theyskens’ Theory, which was discontinued earlier this year. (Theyskens designed and showed the Theory collection during New York Fashion Week in February.) Theyskens is said to be leaving to pursue other projects and will design pre-spring 2015 as his final collection. According to WWD’s sources, Theyskens’ Theory was more expensive to produce and didn’t sell as well as the main collection, and Theyskens struggled to meet production demands at times.

Said Theory CEO Andrew Rosen, “I am grateful for Olivier’s extraordinary contribution to Theory over the past three and a half years, and I am particularly excited to see what he does next. While he has already accomplished so much, I am confident in the power of his artistic skill and believe his future will be very bright,” while Theyskens said, “It has been an amazing opportunity to work with Andrew and to benefit from his knowledge in this dynamic segment of fashion. I will always cherish our friendship.” Sounds pretty amicable, all told.
