Louis Vuitton’s First Campaign Under Ghesquière Is Out

Photo geekdom and fashion geekdom united when Louis Vuitton announced last month that the dream team of Juergen Teller, Bruce Weber, and Annie Leibovitz would be shooting the house’s fall 2014 ads. Today, the images were finally released, and the results are stunning, not to mention a stylistic departure for the brand, in keeping with Nicolas Ghesquière’s still-new tenure. The images are refreshingly unadorned, showcasing the season’s accessories in an understated way. It’s not a surprise to see that Charlotte Gainsbourg is spotlighted, as she’s been Ghesquière’s longtime muse and starred in his Balenciaga campaigns. Model-watchers will be excited to see that Liya Kebede, Freja Beha Erichsen, and Jean Campbell are also featured in the campaign, titled “Series 1.” So, in one fell swoop, Vuitton has managed to please minimalists, fashion obsessives, photo snobs, and Freja fangirls. J.W. Anderson, what’s your take?
