One of fashion’s longest-running legal battles has come to an end. In 2008, LVMH sued the auctioneer for allegedly distributing counterfeit versions of its products. The court ruled that eBay was required to pay the luxury giant 5.7 million euros. (The decision was appealed in 2012.) Reuters reports that the two have now settled in court and are planning initiatives to fight online counterfeiting together. Said LVMH and eBay in a joint statement, “Thanks to our joint efforts, consumers will enjoy a safer digital environment globally.” Look at that— they sound so chummy already.
