Now that Instagram shopping is flourishing, Twitter evidently wants a piece of the pie. The Los Angeles Times reports that Twitter’s mobile app briefly displayed a “Buy Now” button on some tweets. The tweets in question linked to products from the shopping site The Fancy; Re/code had uncovered evidence of some kind of partnership between the two companies back in January. With Twitter’s shares down by nearly half since December, the company may be looking for new sources of revenue. This spring, for example, Twitter allowed users to add items to their Amazon shopping carts by hashtagging #AmazonCart. If you ask us, Twitter is a little late to the party on this whole thing, but good luck!
