After accusations of racial profiling surfaced in October, Barneys has finally settled with the two shoppers in question, agreeing to pay $525,000. But the six-figure settlement isn’t the only proviso: According to WWD, the retailer will also have to enlist an anti-profiling consultant and train employees accordingly. New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who conducted the investigation, told the paper, “Profiling and racial discrimination remain a problem in our state, but not one we are willing to accept.” No word as yet on the similar allegations facing Macy’s.
