“This show is dedicated to the memory of Professor Louise Wilson OBE,” read the program at Christopher Kane’s show this afternoon in London. Wilson, who passed away this spring, was the mentor to countless Central Saint Martins talents over the years, including Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Simone Rocha, and Kane himself. In further tribute to her, Kane revisited a motif from his undergrad heyday, that of knotted ropes, which twisted around sheer dresses and came in trompe l’oeil format as belts on dresses. It’s the closest to nautical that eternal enfant terrible Kane will probably ever venture.
