Earlier this month, unconfirmed reports surfaced that Nina Ricci’s Peter Copping was in talks to take on a lead design role at Oscar de la Renta. Now, WWD reports, the chips for that move are falling into place: “Market sources” tell the trade that Carven’s Guillaume Henry showed his final collection for the house yesterday — and is seen as the “front-runner” to take Copping’s place at Nina Ricci, in theory freeing him up for the move.
When WWD asked Henry for a comment backstage, he responded pretty cryptically: “I absolutely don’t see any invitation to expand on this, but it’s already an appointment I did not want to share today. We are at Carven, and it’s important.” But if this rumor is true, it’s time to cue the music again! Sounds like another round of designer musical chairs.
