Madewell’s French-Girl Collaboration Launches Today
Our collective hunger for becoming French shows no signs of abating: See Maje, Sandro, Iro, Le Pain Quotidien, lymphatic drainage, manuals about how to become French, and so forth. Madewell, which has never been averse to a French slogan (Bien Fait, C’est Bon, etc.) collaborated with the brand Sézane, designed by Paris-based Morgane Sezalory — and even imported a version of her apartment, complete with stacked records and acoustic guitar, into the Madewell showroom. The 14-piece collection, available starting today, includes the label’s smash hit “La Superbe” sweatshirt, a crackled tweed car coat, and leopard-accented ankle boots. Promises Sezalory, “The colors are quiet; the heels aren’t too high.” You never know, it may just turn you into Julie Delpy yet.
