Aurélie Bidermann’s Boutique Opening Was a Very Glam Affair

Parisian beauty Aurélie Bidermann designs the kind of fanciful, statement, get-you-noticed jewelry that turns fashion editors into instant street-style bait during fashion weeks. So it was no surprise to see the crème de la crème of the downtown fashion pack at the opening of her first New York store last night. Garance Doré rubbed shoulders with artists like Aaron Young, models like Alana Zimmer and Alexandra Richards, fashion mainstay Giovanna Battaglia, a Brant bro, and every accessories editor of note. The tiny, pristine Nolita store will carry all of her signature necklaces and bracelets, as well as seasonal collections.

After the opening, the crowd made its way to Lafayette Restaurant for family-style portions of charcuterie, steak with béarnaise butter, pomme frites, and classic tarte tatin. (Good thing jewelry fits no matter how much French food you happen to stuff in your mouth.) As Bidermann made her way around the warmly lit room greeting friends and colleagues alike in a vintage Yves Saint Laurent sparkly black-and-gold dress, the conversation went back and forth between French and English with no regard for context. The sure sign of a great entrance into the U.S.
