Athleisure is the buzzword on everyone’s lips lately, but J.Crew hasn’t hopped on the bandwagon, with CEO Mickey Drexler telling Bloomberg TV that the company had considered doing an activewear line, but decided to bench the plan. Still, according to Jenna Lyons, who was at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund event last night in a dramatic royal-blue blouse, that doesn’t mean the movement doesn’t have legs. “Oh, God, I don’t think [athleisure] is over at all,” she said. “I think it is actually incredibly impervious. It is a question of who is going to dive in, and how is it going to continue. I just don’t think it is the right thing for us to do, but it is out there. I think it is super-important, [but] we’re not planning on taking over the active world.”

As for the much-vaunted Health Goth movement, it’s not something J.Crew plans to address anytime soon. Quipped Lyons, “Coming from the company that honestly barely even shows black in anything, I think we are probably not going to take that one on.” Seems like a good call.
