Art Basel Street Style: Neon Hair and Kawaii Barrettes
While many of us spent the first week of December freezing away in New York, the art set headed down to Miami for four days full of sunny beaches, parties, art, and Miley Cyrus. While Miley’s Art Basel appearances may have been limited to the private nipple-pasties show and some violent encounters with Barbie dolls at the Jeremy Scott Moschino’s party, the influence of her recently adopted, fluorescent, crafty DIY aesthetic appears to have been widely felt. On the Miami street, neon-colored hair was practically the default, and crop tops were inescapable. Some attendees opted for spray-painted leggings, while others went full-out Kawaii with barrettes, headbands, and knee-high furry boots. Others dabbled in unexpected combos, like a pair of sheer, floral pants paired with fluorescent Nikes, and nearly everyone appeared to be dressed for maximum warm-weather comfort.
