It’s freakishly warm in the Northeast, but before long, we’ll all be tromping around in winter coats and shearling booties. For some, the cold is a great excuse to lie on the couch, waiting for a workout drug to motivate you (at least until New Year’s). But if you’re the type to combat seasonal depression by being active, don’t forget to update your exercise gear for the new weather. Whether you’re an outdoor-only runner or an avid ClassPass user, there are tons of sleek, functional pieces made for the cold. Click ahead to see the best tanks, leggings, and jackets for fall and winter exercise.

Simple, Low-Impact Bras Some women hate the restricted feeling of a too-tight sports bra. These options offer just enough support without making you feel like you may dislocate a shoulder upon removal.

Sweat-Wicking Tanks Even though the weather is freezing outside, if you're a fan of indoor classes you'll still be dripping in sweat by the end. A good tank that wicks away the sweat from your body will keep you from feeling cold and clammy when you head back outdoors.

Warm Leggings If you're an outdoor runner, Under Armour and Athleta both offer options that will keep legs insulated and block the wind. For indoor exercisers, Michi's leggings are ultraflattering and have mesh inserts to keep you cool, while Outdoor Voices features cool color-blocking as a nice alternative to basic black.

Cozy Long-Sleeved Tops The best way to brave the chill is to layer up. You might have cold-weather-ready leggings but you also need to keep your torso warm. Under Armour has a great option that features a cowl that you can pull up high on your neck but even a mock-neck can offer extra wind protection.

Sweat-Friendly Pullovers While you'll need a tank for sweaty indoor classes, you can't just wear that under a coat and expect to not shiver. Add on an inexpensive sweatshirt or splurge on a cozy hoodie as an extra layer but make sure they're machine-washable.

Cold-Weather Running Jackets Because running more than a mile or two on a treadmill is enough to drive anyone insane, throw any of these wind-proof styles over your long-sleeved top and head outside.

Good Underwear and Socks Socks sound like they're unimportant — grab some random ones from the drawer and it's fine, right? Sure, if you want blisters. Get socks that are actually designed to handle exercise. The same goes for underwear, because buttne is no fun.

Sophisticated, Functional Sneakers For the avid outdoor runner who will head outside even when it's slushy and gross, Brooks's Adrenaline ASR is a super-comfy trail-running shoe that can navigate the snow piles and uneven terrain. And if you're more of an indoor-training person, Reebok has a sleek CrossFit-ready shoe while Nike's Flyknit is chic and lightweight.

An Easy-to-Use Water Bottle When you're sweaty and shaking from one too many burpees, are you really able to unscrew a bottle and not pour half the contents down your shirt? No. Get a bottle with a straw to keep you hydrated while you're torturing yourself.

A Chic Gym Bag Most days you're heading to the gym before or after work, meaning you'll have to lug your stuff around. Instead of using whatever free canvas bag you dug out of the closet, why not get a sleek tote that complements your office clothes? Or if you're feeling sporty, a nice backpack will suffice. And for the purists, H&M and Sweaty Betty both offer more traditional gym duffles at different price points.
