Last night, at the Los Angeles premiere of Mortdecai, Gwyneth Paltrow showed up in what appeared, at first glance, to be a relatively straightforward and modest teal gown. Yet when viewed from subsequent angles, it turned out that this garment was not just a classical Grecian-inspired dress, but actually a fascinating feat of engineering. The contraption, from Lanvin’s spring 2015 collection, features two thigh-high slits, an artfully twisted racer back, and a leather belt strategically deployed to reveal just a peek of sideboob and then disappear underneath the back of the dress. Goop finished off the complex outfit with a pair of equally bold David Webb earrings.
