Say good-bye to Kate Spade Saturday’s colorful, wallet-friendly offerings — as least as you know them now. In the first half of this year, the brand is closing its brick-and-mortar stores, according to Fox Business. The label, which was launched in 2013, will then be folded in to the main Kate Spade brand. The Saturday ecommerce site will continue to be operational during the transition.
In addition to closing those stores, the company will also shutter the 12 locations of Jack Spade, its men’s label, which will instead be distributed by third-party retailers and via ecommerce. Said CEO Craig Leavitt in a statement, “By taking these actions, we will be able to accelerate the fulfillment of our lifestyle brand vision, expanding our product categories and reaching customers in all facets of their lives, better positioning us to deliver on Kate Spade New York’s full potential.” It sounds like they’re not giving up on the power of all things rainbow bright anytime soon.
