The Texas state senator who replaced Wendy Davis would make a terrifying seventh-grader. For her swearing in, Konni Burton wore cowboy boots that were specially designed to remind everyone of Davis’s gubernatorial loss. They say “Stand for Life,” a play on Davis’s campaign slogan, “Stand with Wendy,” which was inspired by Davis’s star-making 13-hour standing filibuster to block anti-abortion legislation that has since passed and will close all but seven abortion clinics in the state. And to which Davis famously wore flats. “No more pink shoe drama for SD 10,” Burton wrote on Facebook. Brrr!
