The 5 Things I Want to Wear From London Fashion Week

Fashion month usually brings over-the-top looks and accessories designed with fashion editorials in mind. But through all of it, we have to ask ourselves: What would we want to wear? Every day, the Cut brings you editors’ picks — items from the runways they’d actually buy.

1. The opening look at the Christopher Kane show needs to fit its way into my closet. A double-breasted tailored coat with accents of red and royal blue lapels and pocket details would seamlessly update my wardrobe, which is full of navy, black, and gray.

2.  J.W. Anderson’s collection reminded me of things I dreamed of wearing while growing up in the ‘80s. While the shiny patents and velvet jacquards will surely make their way into magazines, I can see myself actually wearing this lurex knit, the tulip skirt, and maybe even the scrunchy leather boots.

3. Simone Rocha’s feminine silhouettes have stayed consistent over the years — but I found this newer, shorter look particularly fresh. The plaid dress (reminiscent of decadent upholstery) would look great over a slim pant.

4. There was an easy, bohemian spirit wafting through Burberry Prorsum — with great capes, suede, and a dark palette. In addition to the round Lennon lenses, I’d like to wear this long-sleeved printed dress, inspired by Durham quilts.

5. The Erdem collection was a study in rich materials. I liked the mix of aristocratic jacquards (here in a minidress and matching coat), worn with an offbeat flat riding boot — a look that will surely be everywhere next fall.
