Wait, Is Amal Clooney Tricking Us Into Reading About Human Rights?

I’m not saying that human rights lawyer Amal Clooney was built in a lab in order to make dumb, celebrity-obsessed Americans care about international affairs. But I can’t help but notice that since she wed former hottest bachelor George Clooney, People magazine has started covering the Armenian genocide trial in the European Court of Human Rights, the repatriation of the Elgin Marbles, and the imprisonment of Al Jazeera journalists in Egypt. (It probably helps that her barrister’s robes have derailed most fashion-centric coverage.) Can she do campaign-finance reform, income inequality, and global climate change next?
