19 Vanity iPhone Cases for Serious Adults

Where are you the funniest, smartest, most Facetuned version of yourself? This week, the Cut explores the complexities, vanities, and pitfalls of self-presentation online.

When you spend your days curating the perfect Instagram shot, it’s not just about owning the latest iPhone but dressing that iPhone in the fanciest, most comment-baiting case possible. No one knows this better than Jeremy Scott at Moschino, who each season gives the guests at his show a kooky case in shapes like McDonald’s French fries, a Barbie hand mirror, and a gigantic branded bear. Within hours, everyone has a pic up on their Instagram account and by the next day you’ll see them paraded around in street-style photos. And they’re not the only ones who understand the value of a vanity case — Stella McCartney has a shark version, Marc by Marc Jacobs made ski goggles, and Garance Doré created illustrated ones. Because, honestly, if you want to be an Instagram star, you can’t exactly have a broken phone. Click ahead to see 19 totally serious vanity cases for any self-respecting, super-professional adult.

This says: I attended the Moschino show and you didn't. Or conversely: I want to be a street-style star.
When Karl meets with Anna, neither of them are likely to be using an iPhone, but it's the irony that counts.
So you can caption your selfie with that ubiquitous unicorn quote.
To pair with a photo of your hand with a carefully curated stack of ultrathin rings and a pointy manicure, naturally.
Carrying a furry little dog: so 2000. Carrying a fuzzy phone that looks like a pet: so 2015.
Because pizza. Duh.
If the rainbows and stars aren't enough for you, there's an actual mirror on there, for the ultimate in vanity.
Pair with requisite peace sign for the ultimate kawaii photo.
Equally as kawaii, but with just a hint of sex appeal. You could be cosplaying as Sailor Moon, who knows?
Are you a style blogger without swearing your designer allegiance? No.
Nothing says "I'm a fashion girl!!!!" like something from Garance Doré.
Solely meant for holding up to your face like they were real ski goggles.
To place in your left hand so you can fully complete the #leftshark meme.
The best bro-bait, because chances are he's a fan of either American Psycho, Twin Peaks, or Wes Anderson.
There's a reason why #chanelphonecase currently has 8,000+ tagged posts on Instagram.
Cool party trick: having a flip phone. Even cooler party trick: turning your iPhone into one.
