After Anna Wintour gave Benedict Cumberbatch’s nuptials her stamp of approval, we figured it wouldn’t be long before we saw his new wife, Sophie Hunter, in the pages of Vogue. (See also: Clooney, Amal.) And in fact, the new issue of the magazine has an Annie Leibovitz spread featuring Hunter in her white lace bridal gown at Valentino’s Roman atelier. She is pictured alongside designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, who raced to make her the couture dress in three months (instead of the typical six.) Hey, you didn’t think they’d announce it in Us Weekly, did you?
The magazine calls Hunter “an intelligent beauty with credentials as fine as patrician as her fine-boned Gainsborough looks.” How are her limbs, though? Like those of “a champion whippet,” baby bump notwithstanding. Not present anywhere in this article is the Cumberrific One himself, but the Tiffany’s engagement ring he selected gets a lot of play. “It has that delicacy,” Hunter reflects. “It’s certainly not ‘in your face.’” And neither is this oh-so-refined duo.
