Lilly Pulitzer’s long-awaited line for Target debuted yesterday and, like clockwork, almost entirely sold out. The 250-piece collection had been wiped out of certain stores and the retailer’s website a few hours after it went live early Sunday morning, which caused some shoppers to tweet and Instagram their frustrations. “@TargetStyle needs to stop humiliating its consumers and plan these collaborations a little better,” tweeted @tomandlorenzo. “It’s been an emotional day for all of us and tensions are high #LillyforTarget,” tweeted comedian Kate Hendricks (@katethewasp). Target reportedly knew there would be high demand for the collection — much like the Missoni line back in 2011 — but its website still crashed on Sunday as shoppers loaded up on boatloads of pink and green beach cover-ups. Target apparently won’t be restocking any of the items, but if you’re set on a $270 hammock with matching lounge chairs, they’re selling for a cool $1,299.99 on eBay. What a bargain!
