Justin Bieber Vows to Bring Us a Line of Mom Fashions

From palling around with Olivier Rousteing at the Met Ball to starring in his own Calvin Klein billboard, Justin Bieber has spent the past year insinuating his way into the world of fashion. He just wrapped a parkour-heavy cameo in the upcoming Zoolander 2. And, he tells Women’s Wear Daily, he still has his sights on design. Bieber, who smacks on blue gum while giving interviews and gives off what the paper delicately terms “a transitional vibe,” has been working what sounds like a bit of a Nancy Meyers vibe lately — perhaps taking a page from one Aubrey Drake Graham.  He’s “really into, like, drapey things, drapey sweaters, layering pieces.” (Yeah, we noticed.)

One caveat: He mentioned his intention to start a line as early as four years ago, so it’s unclear how much he really grasps the concept of “soon.” He says, “I haven’t lost that passion. It’s just such a big deal … I just want to make sure it’s perfect and right and take my time with it. I know Kanye [West] has been working on his stuff for years and failed and came back and tried again and failed. It’s about trial and error and I don’t know if I’m ready for that yet. Fashion’s definitely really important,” notes the aspiring couturier, “but I got to make sure I’m ready for the failing part of it because I know that comes with it.” Justin Bieber: 100 percent ready for fashion failure.
