Unless you’ve been following superhero casting news, Gal Gadot may not yet be a household name. But that will change next year when Gadot takes the role of Wonder Woman in the much-anticipated Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice movie (you can see her powerful Wonder Woman fist smashing things here). Until then, Gadot can be seen on the smaller screen as the new face of Gucci Bamboo. Although her publicist blocked all questions related to superheros and Wonder Woman, the Cut sat down with Gadot to talk about the surprising nude scene in her new commercial, her typical breakfast, and how many perfume spritzes it takes to get her out the door.

What was your first scent memory?
It would probably be my mother, but I don’t really remember it. So I would say my home — you know, when you get into a home and it has its own scent? So my first home, it smelled sweet and fresh. Sometimes, it had cooking scents, but it just smelled like home.

I watched the ad for the commercial. It’s beautiful but surprised me a bit.
Really? How come?

The scene of you playing piano surprised me — it looked like you were nude?
Yeah, Fabien Baron was in charge of the whole vision for the video. We wanted to show different sides of a multifaceted woman. The Gucci Bamboo perfume was really made for women, and that was the first thing they told me. It was made for women who aspire for strength and power, and at the same time, they don’t let go of their femininity — so we have the fencing scene, the dancing scene, driving, and also the piano scene. We both felt the piano scene was so original, and that to show a woman who plays a piano naked is a celebration of her femininity. She feels pretty. She feels liberated. She feels freedom within her own skin. So I immediately liked the idea and I thought it was very creative and original.

Now that you’ve finished Wonder Woman, what is your day-to-day workout routine like?
Without Wonder Woman, it’s different. That was a lot more intensive. I live by the ocean and admired the surfers, especially the surfer girls. But it was too much for me. I didn’t have the time to put into really learning how to surf. I tried, but it didn’t really fly. So I do paddle boarding because I love the ocean, it’s very peaceful, and you still get the work. I also enjoy TRX.

Growing up, my mom was a gymnastics instructor. I was also a dancer for 12 years. I used to play basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, tennis. You name it, I was there. I broke all of my fingers. I was very active and I was always outside. I wasn’t the type of kid who watched TV. I was a tomboy.

How do you like to start your mornings?
We wake up with my family and get everyone ready for the day. And then we have breakfast and coffee and tea and everything. I usually eat a toasted bagel with cream cheese, which is easy. If I want to go more healthy, my usual is an egg-white omelette with mushrooms, onions, and goat cheese and toast. Usually I try to walk with my daughter to school. And then I just start my day.

What is your beauty routine in the morning?
It’s very simple. I wake up in the morning and wash my face. I put on my La Mer moisturizer. I don’t even wear makeup, really. I mix my moisturizer with just a touch of the makeup and then I wear some concealer, mascara, and go. I do the same skin-care routine at night, only then make sure to take off all of my makeup.

Where do you like to apply perfume?
On my pulse points — about four spritzes all over and then the fifth on my neck.
