M.A.C Cosmetics’ upcoming collaboration celebrating singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez is now a reality, thanks in part to a powerful Change.org petition asking for the beauty brand to create a line inspired by the singer. In just five months, the petition garnered 35,000 signatures, quickly reaching their initial goal of 5,000 signatures in 24 hours. Initially, M.A.C Cosmetics responded to the movement by saying they would “consider all types of feedback like this as we plan our collaborations.”

Today, James Gager, M.A.C senior vice-president and group creative director, released a statement saying, “We have heard the passion and enthusiasm from her fans and wholeheartedly agree that her legacy embodies M·A·C’s philosophy.” Although no word on exactly what products the line will include, Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, will help create the collection and said, “I am so excited that M·A·C Cosmetics will be releasing a collection in honor of my sister Selena. Helping to create this collection brings me back to all those late night conversations on our tour bus when she spoke of having her own makeup line one day. If Selena were here she would be beyond ecstatic to have this happening. History is being made.” The line will debut in 2016 and the GIF below best sums up everyone’s feelings about it.
