Introducing Cultcore: A Caftan for Every Day of the Week

There are cult fashion items — like, for example, Margiela’s cloven-hoofed Tabi boots and Issey Miyake’s Bao bags — that have outlasted season after season of trends. And then there are cult fashion items — meaning the preponderance of drapey caftans, standard-issue jumpsuits, and vacant expressions seen on the New York runways this past week. After the Cut’s own Allison P. Davis coined the term, we saw #cultcore popping up everywhere we looked, from Rachel Comey’s blissed-out moon commune dwellers to Hood by Air’s cult-y take on Thing One and Thing Two.
