Sometimes the most rewarding type of success is the kind that comes through rising up by rising together. That’s the lesson learned from Dream, Girl filmmaker Erin Bagwell’s life story, thus far.
Bagwell started out like many others, less-than-thrilled with her job—in her case, as an interactive designer for a digital company. But unlike many people, she woke up one day and decided to change her own fate. Launching a website of her own called Feminist Wednesday, she interviewed many women about their personal and professional accomplishments. Inspired by their stories, she decided to make Dream, Girl, a documentary about empowered female entrepreneurs. But first she had to gather some funds.
After Bagwell shared her own story, a community of women rallied around her, helping her raise $104K+ on Kickstarter (far exceeding her goal of $57K) to make Dream, Girl. And in giving these leaders a place to speak up and tell their stories, Bagwell continues to earn word-of-mouth feminist fame.
Clinique created its Smart™ Custom-Repair Eye Treatment and Smart™ Custom-Repair Serum for busy, thoughtful women such as Bagwell, who are looking for simple, powerful tools to transform their complexions as they change the world. Because progress beings with self-empowerment, we asked Bagwell to tell us about the smartest decision she ever made that would impact her life and, in the process, help women around her. What Is a Sponsor Story?
