At the Democratic town hall in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday, Bernie Sanders met one concerned citizen who took him to task on his ability to support women’s issues, especially over his female opponent. And Sanders reminded her: She shouldn’t worry. When it comes to women’s issues, he’s got the voting history to prove his support.
And one of these issues? His backing of Planned Parenthood. Sanders said the following of his pro-choice record:
“I have a 100 percent pro-choice voting record. In every speech that I give, what I say is not only do we stop the Republican efforts to try to defund Planned Parenthood, we should expand funding for Planned Parenthood.”
This is a welcome statement on the day a Houston grand jury indicted the two videographers of the Planned Parenthood attack videos. And Bernie Sanders wants you to know he is for the health-care provider. All the way.
Sanders also emphasized his mission to close the gender pay gap, calling it “old-fashioned sexism.” No arguments there.
