The Screen Actor’s Guild awards are consistently an exercise in taste, refinement, and the active flattering of Hollywood legends for their decades of glamorous service. During tonight’s ceremony, Carol Burnett was granted the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award, which she earned a million times over simply by wearing Uggs on the red carpet.

Burnett, a Broadway legend who’s made a name for herself also as a vaudevillian and variety-show icon, graced us with a powerful speech about her experiences with gender-based discrimination in show business. Of her experience at the helm of The Carol Burnett Show, she had this to say:  >
