In a “no-duh” move, Susan Sarandon is L’Oréal Paris’s newest beauty ambassador. In a statement to WWD, the actress said, “The very first time I heard ‘Because I’m Worth It’ [the brand’s motto], it definitely was a shift in the framing of why you should look good. It had to do with women becoming the master of their own lives and decisions. I look forward to being older, when what you look like becomes less and less an issue, and what you are is the point.”

Sarandon joins an ever-growing recent stable of older actresses with beauty deals, such as Helen Mirren for L’Oréal Paris U.K.Charlotte Rampling for NARS Cosmetics, and Winona Ryder and Jessica Lange for Marc Jacobs Beauty. Props and good news all around, but as the actress herself once said, “It will be great when it’s not such a big deal when a woman gets a good job.” Here’s to announcements like these becoming less and less like pleasant surprises.
