Amber Rose Patiently Explains Consent to Men

Amber Rose has embraced her new role as a sex-positive, motivational feminist, organizing Slut Walks and being above her ex’s nonsense, and recanting her past slut-shaming. Today she goes on It’s Not You, It’s Men and takes on the thankless task of explaining to men (in this instance, hosts Tyrese and Reverend Run) what it means when a woman says “No.”

“If I’m laying down with a man butt-naked and his condom is on, and I say, ‘You know what? No, I don’t want to do this, I changed my mind.’ That means no,” she tells them patiently. “That means fucking no. That’s it. It doesn’t matter how far I take it, or what I have on, when I say no it means no.”

Run follows up by asking if women shouldn’t follow the rule of “Dress how you want to be addressed.” He gets a round of applause from the audience, but a resounding “BOO!” from Rose before she explains that wearing a short skirt out does not mean she wants to have sex. Then, with enviable composure, she tells the men (who at this point aren’t saying much more than some timid “okay”s), “I’m not mad at y’all, because that’s how society raised all of us.” If Amber Rose can keep her cool through this conversation, you can do it when that Twitter troll starts talking about women asking for it.
