what to expect when you're expecting fashion

Two relatively young labels kick off this morning: Hellessy at 9 a.m. and Brock Collection at 11 a.m. The former, which focuses on minimalist pieces with a twist — like last season’s mattress-ticking evening dress — is the creation of Chanel and Givenchy veteran Sylvie Millstein (and, per the brand’s rep, you can expect a star of The Affair to be in attendance). The latter, designed by Laura Vassar and Kris Brock, focuses on updated American sportswear.

Then it’s a Creatures double-header, with Creatures of the Wind, Shane Gabier and Chris Peters’s fanciful, Tavi-beloved label, showing at noon and Creatures of Comfort, retailer Jade Lai’s in-house line, at two. This season, Gabier and Peters have teamed up with photographer Ethan James Green on a collaboration that will debut at their show.

CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner (in an unprecedented three-way tie) Aurora James of Brother Vellies has a presentation at one. None other than Kanye West dropped in at the last one, so expect a crowd.

Speaking of Mr. West, a select few of his close personal friends will be gathering at midtown’s intimate Madison Square Garden for a small presen— just kidding. Yeezy Season 3 is shaping up to be the biggest spectacle of the week, with the designer hiring a reported 1,200 extras and planning to debut his new album, Waves. If history serves, the front row will be an A-list one as well. This is the show your non-fashion friends will be asking about, so study up.

If anyone is left standing after the Yeezy hurricane blows through Herald Square, Adam Selman will show at 6:30, and Katie Ermilio, whose eveningwear manages to fuse tradition and youthful appeal, is showing at seven.
