The concert-slash-presentation is officially a Fashion Week Thing now. Like a scrappy indie-rock sibling to Kanye’s Madison Square Garden blowout, the Assembly New York show at Baby’s All Right in Williamsburg Thursday night featured live music along with the clothes.
Musicians including Grizzly Bear, Chairlift, Beau, Blonde Redhead, and more — basically, any band you’d ever hear in a restaurant full of reclaimed wood — performed wearing looks from designer Greg Armas’s fall/winter collection. In the audience: Zoë Kravitz, Twin Shadow, and Dev Hynes wearing one of the airbrushed Donda shirts Ye was selling at his show. Forget Vetements jeans — those tees might be the hottest street-style object of the week.
