Catch your breath: Kim Kardashian’s predicted CFDA Fashion Icon award is still up for grabs. After Vogue’s lengthy Kim K. prophecy, that announcement was noticeably missing from the CFDA nominations last night — event organizers confirmed the award is still to come (the suspense!). Many nominees were CFDA veterans (Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne), while first-timers included Monse and recent LVMH finalist Brandon Maxwell.
David Bowie received a special tribute, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele got an international nod, and shared female genes took the spotlight. “Lots of sisters,” observed Diane Von Furstenberg, who hosted the event at the New Museum with Nadja Swarovski: siblings Kate Mulleavy and Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte, and The Row’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Rachel and Floriana Gavriel of Mansur Gavriel.
