City Councilmember Julissa Ferreras-Copeland presented a bill to the City Council on Tuesday that would make tampons free in public-school bathrooms, homeless shelters, and jails and prisons. First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray is here to celebrate — with a tampon poem! She read her poem, titled “Tampons for All,” aloud Wednesday at a Twitter event:
Larry Wilmore might have claimed #TamponTuesday, but New York has Chirlane McCray, the dream of free tampons for all, and now this poem.
