Kathleen Hanna loves action movies, and, in fact, fantasizes about being an action hero. “I’ll watch any piece-of-crap action movie that there is,” Hanna told the Cut at the opening of Metrograph, a new theater on the Lower East Side. “I like having fantasies. Like, last night, I had a dream that Hillary Clinton got kidnapped and I saved her.” Hanna had fallen asleep while watching the animated feature Home. “When I woke up, I was, like, oh my god, I just saved Hillary Clinton! Because it was the last scene in my dream, where I walked into the room, and she’s tied to the chair, and I’m, like, ‘Don’t worry, Ms. Clinton. It’s okay, I’m here!’”

Hanna, the lead singer of ’90s punk band Bikini Kill, honed her cinematic tastes at a $1 movie theater in Portland, Oregon, that she and her mother frequented. “We would go for the first showing, and then we would stay and go to see every single film. But by film I mean Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo. That was one of our favorites. We would watch anything. We would watch Snoopy Come Home. We would watch every movie in the whole place just because it was $1, and my mom’s, like, the cheapest person in the world.”

So far, she hasn’t had any dreams about Donald Trump. “Thank god — those are nightmares.”
