The dominos are lining up. After Hedi Slimane’s less-than-surprising exit from Saint Laurent on Friday, his rumored successor, Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello, has just left his post at Versus, per a release from the company. The 33-year-old designer has been at the label for a little over a year, following in the footsteps of Christopher Kane and J.W. Anderson there. Said Donatella Versace in the release, “While I’m sad to see him leave the Versace family, I wish Anthony Vaccarello tremendous success with his next chapter.”
All signs point to that next chapter being at Yves Saint Laurent. He was said to be in talks with the house back in January. A source told Reuters that a YSL announcement regarding Vaccarello is imminent. According to the same source, Vaccarello will be halting production of his namesake line, which he founded in 2008, to focus on designing YSL. Watch this space.
