Shame and 12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen has released his latest work: a short ad campaign film for Burberry’s new fragrance Mr. Burberry. Despite the lack of Michael Fassbender, the video is unusually sexy, even for a perfume ad. Shot on 90-millimeter film, the same kind used for old-school films like Ben Hur, it stars British actors Josh Whitehouse and Amber Anderson playing out what McQueen called “a dirty weekend.”
“It’s that moment in a relationship where all you are thinking about is each other, and all you want is to be with each other,” he said. Watch the video to see the couple moodily making out, writhing around in Burberry trench coats, and — wait, was that a Ben Affleck Gone Girl moment? Or just suggestive shadows?
