On Tuesday, Twitter became home to the stories of hundreds of women who shared their sexual-harassment experiences with the hashtag #WhenIWas. Started as part of a campaign by Everyday Sexism, the hashtag became the catalyst for varied stories, including those that occurred in the halls of elementary and middle schools.
Even with the help of a hashtag, these stories are never easy to tell. But in a society where 84 percent of women are catcalled before the age of 17, they are far too common.
