When paint, film, and clay start to feel old, artists are now turning to light. The techism movement aims to create a union between art and ever-present technology. At the center of this movement is New York–based artist Krista Kim, who creates Rothko-esque pieces using LED lights and color gradients. Unlike a standard Rothko, though, these gradients morph from rainbow to rainbow.
Kim’s work has been featured in Singapore, Shanghai, New York, and Washington, D.C., and she is currently planning a show in Paris. On her website, Kim writes that her work “expresses digital consciousness and questions our current aesthetic principles.” Click ahead to see the more beautiful approach to LED lights.
