At a Q&A with Cosmopolitan editor Joanna Coles, Tatum took a moment away from promoting Born and Bred, his new vodka line made from Idaho potatoes and water from the Grand Teton Mountains, to discuss the incidents that transpired this month over the sentencing of Brock Turner.
“I think it’s a horrible idea to let someone off because possibly of what they are going to be capable of doing. If you start doing that, where do you stop?” Tatum said. “Where is that line? I don’t think it’s right. I think he should have been punished, personally.” And Tatum’s comments weren’t just limited to now-convicted-felon Turner, but to Judge Aaron Persky, too. “I just couldn’t believe it. It’s like if you killed someone and got caught red-handed and just because you went to a nice school, and you were a good swimmer, you somehow get a lesser sentence. That just doesn’t make any sense.”
