Miss D.C., Deshauna Barber, has been crowned this year’s winner of the Miss USA pageant, beating out Miss Hawaii and Miss Georgia for the title. The 26-year-old IT analyst and army officer brings the District of Columbia its first title in 14 years.
Part of a military family, Barber’s now a logistics commander for the 988th Quartermaster Detachment Unit, according to her Miss D.C. bio.
“From the District of Columbia, #MissUSA 2016 Deshauna Barber! This queen belongs in the White House.”
So, um, yeah, the woman’s done a thing or two with her life. Here’s to one more jewel in her crown.
