Street Style: Welcome to the Roaring 20s
New Yorkers dressed for a real-life scene straight out of The Great Gatsby last weekend at this summer’s first Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island. Women sported bobbed hair and flapper dresses, men appeared in striped suits, and everyone danced to Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra’s tunes. While guests sipped St. Germain cocktails and twirled on the dance floor, Cut photographer Aaron Berger captured some of the party’s best looks.
“Right from the ferry you see excited group selfies, strangers exchanging compliments on their outfits, adults acting like kids, and kids all dressed up like adults,” Berger said. “I got the feeling that many wish they could dress up like this every day. It’s a great excuse to take a ferry somewhere other than the Statue of Liberty.”
