New York’s fashion set wore normcore (really, so much normcore) at the Adidas Fanatic soccer tournament on Saturday, bolstering the anti-fashion movement in an array of monochromatic shirts and Adidas sweats. Photographer David Williams captured the scene all day in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where he found the original face of normcore (VFILES director Jake Moore), a data scientist who bears a pleasing resemblance to hot felon Jeremy Meeks (see above), and a stylist’s FIGHT THE POWER tee. There were tinted sunglasses, colorful hair (Smurf blue, neon purple), and neon cleats.
The 28 competing teams included Opening Ceremony, Kinfolk magazine, and Momofuku, representing insiders from the city’s fashion, design, and food scenes. East Village Mediterranean café the Smile won the event.
