For far too long, women who don’t constantly have a maniacal smile plastered on their faces have been accused of being afflicted with a condition known as resting bitch face (or bitchy resting face, if you prefer). But now, in a true nod toward gender equality, a man — a former presidential candidate, no less — has also been publicly shamed for his face’s inherent resting bitchiness.
While Hillary Clinton gave her historic speech at the DNC, many pointed out that Bernie Sanders looked pretty surly while watching from the audience. So surly, in fact, that during a recent Face the Nation interview, host John Dickerson delicately asked Sanders about his expression, wondering, “During the convention when Hillary Clinton mentioned you, you had a bit of a stoic look on your face. What was going through your mind?”
Sanders replied, “I always have that look on my face. It’s nothing new.”
