Gemma Ward has already cemented her comeback-kid status by walking Prada and appearing in a Givenchy campaign styled by Carine Roitfeld. Today the model, who is 15 weeks pregnant with her second child, walked the runway for David Jones, the Australian department store. Or as The Daily Mail put it, she “stunned as she showed off her baby bump.” Whichever you prefer.
Ward told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph that she would be walking the show for the first time since age 15, joking, “I’m really doing this so that my baby can have a first catwalk show early.”
“I am really excited that they’ve embraced me and this concept,” she added. “I just think it is a really lovely way to celebrate a period in what some women go through and it is nice to celebrate all the different ways your body changes.” She’s in good company: Gisele, Jacquetta Wheeler, and Alessandra Ambrosio have done the same, as did Bianca Balti at a Dolce & Gabbana show last year and Ashleigh Good at last year’s Chanel couture show. Luckily, procreation is an evergreen trend.
