Bottega Veneta’s New Bag Comes With a Map of Manhattan

Bottega Veneta was built on an obsession with leather goods, so when they introduce a new bag, you know it’s special. The newest addition to their family of signature Intrecciato items is the “Manhattan Olimpia” — a compact, on-the-go version of their classic Olimpia handbag.

Some fresh updates on this Manhattan-inspired version include the integration of Nappa leather and glossy snakeskin for an eye-catching, 3-D effect that’s made to resemble the street grid of Bergdorf Goodman’s storied Fifth Avenue location, and Central Park. The limited-edition Bergdorf exclusive depicts the geographical location of the luxury department store on its burnished metal clasp, while the location of Central Park is represented by the smooth Nappa leather that begins on the front of the bag.

For now, the Manhattan Olimpia is available in six colors, ranging from an intense cardinal red to a rich espresso. If you were ever curious as to how something like this is made, next month Bottega’s new Bergdorf space will house a special two-day demonstration showing how the house’s expert artisans craft the bag within their Italian atelier.

Bottega Veneta ‘Manhattan Olimpia’ bag, $3,500 at Bergdorf Goodman, 754 Fifth Avenue; 212-872-2555. Presentation: October 20-21.
