Marc Jacobs, Patron Saint of imaginative New York Fashion Week shows, revealed his SS17 collection today at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

For the past four days, the brand has been uploading mash-up videos of the mood boards for past seasons — which span everything from Bowie to Richard Hamilton’s mixed media to Louis Vuitton’s nurses.

Courtney Love posted just before noon that she was “Ready for @marcjacobs”. Long live the ‘90s.

The set was full of twinkling lights, much more welcoming than the austere white from the FW16 show.

Zosia Mamet, Rachel Feinstein, Terry Richardson joined Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington in the front row. André Leon Talley could be heard from the livestream.

The runway started at 2 p.m. on the dot, because Marc Jacobs will never stop surprising us.

The looks were a mix of raver and Harajuku schoolgirl, with a hint of royalty — like Marie Antoinette took too much molly at Versailles. The models’ heads were piled high with rainbow dreadlocks. Metallic leather jackets and rainbow thigh-highs were paired with demure sweater-and-tie sets. Case in point: Taylor Hill’s rainbow-sequined letterman jacket over a sheer lace dress with lavender thigh-high socks.

Gigi and Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Kendall Jenner walked the runway. Jourdan Dunn wore a heart-printed metallic sweater with thigh-high boots. Adriana Lima had on a Victorian cheetah-print negligee with gladiator sandals.

The show started and ended in metallic hot pants. Last season’s goth platform boots have morphed into this season’s candy-colored platform boots.
