After the accountants from Ernst & Young, who are tasked with protecting the Emmy results, took the stage, comedian Leslie Jones joined them for a short bit during which she humorously addressed her year of horrific online abuse head-on.
“Let’s be real. Y’all protecting something that nobody is trying to steal. Don’t nobody wanna know about boring Emmy secrets,” she told them. “But since you good at keeping things safe, I got a job for you: my Twitter account. Put that in the vault, please. Y’all over here using your skills to protect Best Voice-over in a French Sitcom. Meanwhile, I’m butt naked on CNN.”
“I just wanted to feel beautiful, y’all. Can a sister feel beautiful?” Jones added, before marching offstage with the Ernst & Young team, getting the last word in this whole situation.
