On Tuesday night, actress and singer Zendaya Coleman took to her Snapchat to tell of an incident in which she says that a grocery-store clerk refused to serve her and a friend.

“I don’t think she was a huge fan of our skin tone,” she said, before explaining that she had attempted to purchase $400 worth of gift cards. The store clerk allegedly told Zendaya that she couldn’t buy gift cards worth that much, before “throwing” her wallet.

“‘You can’t afford this,’ is how she looked at me,” she said.

Her friend jumped in to add that this all happened “because we’re black.” This is not the first time Zendaya has spoken up about racial injustice: For instance, she notably called out Giuliana Rancic’s comments about her dreadlocks.

“Long story short,” Zendaya added near the end of her comments. “There’s so much progress to be done in our world.”
